Hi David! This is an interesting question. It'll be interesting to see what Matt Rodda says about AI, especially if/when he takes on the AI role in government. I feel like one way to judge the significance of the shadow role is to compare with their counterpart in government; Rodda is shadowing Jonathan Berry, Viscount Camrose, who has certainly had some involvement in the AI Summit and the wider AI agenda, but has been quieter than Donelan and Sunak. That makes me think Rodda's role isn't the largest, but I'm highly uncertain about that! Keen to watch things develop here.
What’s your view on AI & copyright. There seems to be mounting anger among content creators that AI is stealing their creative work. I’m conflicted, as without ‘reading’ Winny The Pooh for example, how is AI ever going to understand the cultural references and nuances which come from literature?
Does Labour's appointment of a Shadow Minister for AI and IP, this September, change this analysis?
